272.-This course deals with the plan of redemption, giving
the part done by Jehovah and that part to be done by man. Various
topics will be studied such as, the atonement, faith, repentance,
baptism, etc.
282.-This course deals with various problems and duties
of church work such as the Lord's Supper, teaching the church,
teaching the young people, evangelizing, church finances, the
Lord's Day Worship, song service, prayer, etc.
292.-This course deals with the New Testament church, its
officers, and its working. This course, as well as the two preceding,
will be topical.
II. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION
123. School Management and Administration. This is a
general course dealing with the organization, direction and control
of schools. This course aims to help teachers in their actual
school room work, whether in a one-teacher, two-teacher or much
larger school. It is not a course in Methods, so little attention
will be given to that subject. The principles studied will be looked
at largely from the view of the elementary teacher. Texts:
Class Room Organization and Control, Sears; Rural School Management,
Eells Moeller; Swain.
313-B.-(w) Observation of Teaching. The course will
consist of the observance of teaching in the academy, the training
school and the Abilene Public Schools. Detailed reports
must be made of these and these reports will form a basis for
class room discussions. At least 36 clock hours of class room
observation will be required.
313-C.-Practice Teaching. At least 36 clock hours of actual
class room teaching will be required of each person who
takes this course. The teaching will be done in our own training
school and academy and will be under the direct oversight
of competent critic teachers and under the general supervision
of the Department of Education.
375. School Administration. This course will be a close
study of the administrative elements of the public schools. Parallel
reading and reports will be required. Text: To be selected.
This course is a combination of Education 323 and 333
given in former years.
385.-General History of Education. The course will consist
of reports on assigned readings, class discussions of the text,
lectures, and papers on specially assigned topics. Text: The
History of Education, Cubberly.
