Notes

Thomas Marshall Hunter was born in Chester, South Carolina, on April 7, 1870 to Miles and Sallie Marshall Hunter. He received his education at the Citadel Military College in Charleston, South Carolina, before attending Southwestern Presbyterian University in Clarksville, Tennessee. He preached at churches in Tennessee, Georgia, and Louisiana before making his way to Beaumont in 1921, when he became the first pastor of the newly formed Westminster Presbyterian Church. The church saw rapid growth under his tenure in the early years and rapidly expanded mission work with local churches. His leadership led to the construction of a fully equipped education building on the church property and the elimination of church debt. He remained with the church until his death in 1937.
