This training is unique here
at Wolters in that the 311th is
the only unit on post which is
responsible for conducting this
type of training.
The rail loading training will
give the 311th the experience
in loading and unloading vehi-
cles on rail cars for such time
as this unit may be called for
rapid deployment in accordance
March 26 marked a new phase
of training for the 311th USASA
Battalion.
Rail loading training was con-
ducted at the Fort Wolters rail-
head for members of the Head-
quarters and Headquarters
Company of the 311th.
The training was a portion
of the 311th's Unit Readiness
Training.

Recreation Program
Summer is the time when all the children are looking for
other outlets for all the energy expended in school during the win-
ter months.
We would like to offer you and your children a summer pro-
gram of planned recreation. However, we need information from
you to help us in the planning. It will be a six-weeks long pro-
gram to begin on June 12, designed for spending one-half the
morning in swimming instruction and the other half in crafts,
with bowling, archery or other activities provided for the older
children. Counselors will be provided for all children, with the
groups of children broken down according to age and sex of
Child.
The cost will be approximately $21.00 for the first child
from a family, $15.00 for the second and $10.00 for each addi-
tional child from one family.
Will you please help us by filling in the questionnaire and
returning it to the S2/3, Bldg 321, Fort Wolters or to 306 Parke
Street, Mineral Wells.

Army Study Says

Career Incentives
WASHINGTON (ANF)— An
Army study group has recom-
mended new incentives and ad-
vancement opportunities for
warrant officers.
The Warrant Officer Study
Group, after examining the war-

major points which have been

—Create new opportunities
for warrant officers to be pro-
moted to grades CW3 and CW4.
—Establish a branch in the
Office of the Executive for Car-
eer Planning, Officer Personnel
Directorate, to provide long-
range career planning.
—Increase opportunities to
attend military and civilian
schools to develop a regular
pattern for career progres-
sion.
—Modify the warrant officer
military occupational specialty
(MOS) structure to provide bet-
ter management and to ac-
curately identify skills.

similar readiness movement
training is a must for units such
as ours," said LTC William
F, Vernau, 311th battalion com-
mander.
♦ Without it we wouldn't be
able to move rapidly when called
upon to do so. I'm very satis-
fied with the results of what we
have done so far," he added.
1LT Larry T„ Mead, the in-
structor for the training, stated
that he was quite pleased with
the cooperation and interest of
the students.
Future plans call for more

QUESTION: They say Savings
Bonds are "indestructible".
What does this mean?
ANSWER: It means that a Sav-
ings Bond, if lost, stolen or
destroyed will be replaced
free of charge by the gov-
ernment. Recently, a bond
blown by a tornado from Iowa,
was found in Illinois by a
farmer, and returned to its
owner. Had the bond not been
returned, the government
would have issued a new one.
