Correspondence and personal items of John J. Herrera, a notable lawyer and civil rights advocate for Mexican Americans. Known for his role in desegregating schools, he fought the exclusion of Spanish-speaking citizens on juries.
Letter from Jacob I. Rodriguez, editor of the LULAC News, to John J. Herrera, LULAC National President, dated November 3, 1952. Originally enclosed with the letter was a copy of the LULAC NEWS of Santa Ana, California, which included that council's by-laws. Rodriguez is questioning the by-laws as they appear to include "secession" statements concerning LULAC.
