It is a painful duty for us fo re-
cord the death of the distinguish
ed man whose name appears above
—painful, because for long year-
—thirty years—we had intimately
known him in all'social, pol'tica!
and business life, and because in
earliest acquaintance with him
we learned to admire him for his
social qualities, his brilliancy of
mind and his warmth of heart.

to be a man of the highest integ

Mr. J. T. Rogers is not unlike

true and steadfast to his friends,
and a man who never begs or

has a very good English educa-

business qualifications. He does
not possess a copiousness of words,
but is rather on the reserve; at the
same time however, he is a man

lie is one ot the those kind ot
