praise of Chamberlain's Colic,
Cholera and Diarrhoea Remedy,"

chronic diarrhoea for ten years
and during that time tried vari-
ous medicines without obtaining
any permanent relief. Last
summer one of my children wan
taken with cholera morbus, and
I procured a bottle of this rem-
edy. Only two dose* wore re-
quired to give her entire relief.
1 then decided to try the uiodi-
eine myself, and did rot use all
of one botil«j before I wan well
and I have never since been
troubled with that complaint.
One cannot say too much in fa-
vor of that wonderful medicine."

No False Claims
The proprietors of Foley's

earlier stages and never fails (o

Odd Club Names.
There are many queer clubs in
old Greenwich village that New
Yorkers unfamiliar with that tan-
gled up portion of Manhattan
never hear about. All of them
have regular meetings for purely
social purposes and some of them
have large memberships. It is
hard to find a shop in old Green-
wich at this time of the year that
does not have a card announc-
ing the annual ball of one of these
clubs. Tickets for them are sold
in cigar stores, 6aloons and groc-
ery stores. The Tough Club is
one of the most conspicuous of
these organizations. Some of the
best citizens of the old Ninth ward
belong to it. Then there are the
Hickory Club, the Ping-Pong
Club, the Village Club and the
Spare Club, the latter organiza*
tion much on the lines of the Beef-
steak Club. Their spare rib feasts
are said to be epicurean revels.

Washington Superstitions.
If a politician hunts up Presi-
dent Roosevelt looking for trou-
ble he will get it.
If a congressman carries his
district to Washington in his vest
pockct it's a sign he can make his
campaign expenses by merely
saying "aye" or "no" at the prop-
er time.
Whenever President Roosevelt
says "110" it's a sign lie doesn't
mean "yes." It's a very had sign
when President Roosevelt gets on
his ear.
Whenever a congressman advo-
cates a reduction of the tariff on
anything you will see somebody
come to the front.
If you take enough sioney
when you go to Washington
looking for an office it's a sign
you can rent desk room some-
where, anyhow.
Kits* •• Soapegoat*.
Everybody knows the fond-
ness of the adult Chinese for kite
flying. The Korean, however,
puts this pastime to a use alto-
gether novel. When the time of
good resolutions conies around at
the new year the Korean writes
on a kite all his faults, "Evil dis-
position, impatience, bad words,
street fight*," etc. "It was so
dark," says one American resid-
ing in Korea, relating such an in-
stance, that no kite could be seen,
but when he had run the string
out to its full ength he cut it and
let it go, imagining that so he
had rid himself of his enemies
and could begin the new year
with new couragc."

Anolsnt Egyptian Jswsls.
Some of the most remarkable
Egyptian jewelry ever discovered
has recently been unearthed. The
date assigned is as remote as Sl oo
b. C., but the workmanship in
gold and jewels is marvelous. Ia
exploring the tomb of King Zer it
was found that the tomb had been
entered and that the plunderers
had broken off the arm of <he
mummy queen and hidden h in s
crevice in the wall—perhaps on
being discovered or alarmed—and
had never returned to remove it.
On taking off the wrappings Pro-
fessor Petrie found four magnifi-
cent bracelets of gold, with ame-
thyst, turquoise and lapislazuli in
varied elegant adjustments. The
gold work was peculiarly fine and
delicate, though the metal was
soft and pure, apparently with ao
hardening alloy. The stones were
beautiful and very strikingly and
peculiarly arranged.
Postage Stamp "Trimmers."
In the list of dishonest callings
are three or four that are strange,
though none of them is indigen-
ous to New York. The most
flagrantly dishonest of these is
perhaps that of the man who
makes a scanty living by cleaning
and selling canceled postage
stamps. He uses a wash, con-
sisting of a sohition of acids, that
completely removes the stencil
marks without injuring the en-
graving. Hundreds of these
stamps are used in a week in New
York alone. One may see at any
time men "trimming" the garbage
o«f the city in search of stamps. Of
course, they are not the only
"trimmers," as this is a very fruit*
ful source of wealth.
Silver Dollars Soaroe'There.
Although silver change of all
kinds is very plentiful in New
York the silver dollar is almost s
•curiosity. One may go for months
there without finding one in his
pockets. 'A guest at the Imperisl
offered to bet today that five of
them could not he had in the
whole hotel district in and around
Herald square. The cashier of
the Imperial had not Beam a silver
dollar that day, and the Waldorf
and Victoria cashiers said they
thought they "were out of prist.
Domestic Troubles.
It is exceptional to find a fam-
ily where there are no domestic
ruptures occasionally, but these
can be lessened by having Dr.
King's New Life Pills around.
Much trouble they save by
their great work in stomach and
liver troubles. They not only
relieve you, but cure. 25c, at E.
