Sanford B. Williams, Sr. was born in Denton, Texas. He was the first husband of Norvell Hill Williams Reed and the father of Charles W. Williams. Williams family members are descendents of residents of the Quakertown neighborhood of Denton, Texas.

Sanford B. Williams worked as a cook at Texas State College for Women in Denton, Texas.
