beautifully the glories of a mellenaial Sab-
bath. h wilt be founcTbelow. li la worthy
to be written in letters of gold and set in dia-
monds: > *:
It will be a day of lasting rest When the
night that is Cur spent is completely exhaust-
ed. and the day shall be fully come, then
there shall be perfect rest. The earth shall
have its Sabbath, which is lo*t by bur sin.
Man shall have his, in its integrity and beau-
ty and parity. God rested on the seventh
day from all his work, sad hallowed the Sab-
bath, and blessed it IbeHave there is not a
tieast in the field, nor á fish in the sea, nor a
fowl in the air, that has not a right to the
Sabbath, and that shall not yet have a jSab-
bath of rest. There is not a laborer in the
workshop, nor a toiling man in the poet-office
nor a clerk in the counting ~
not claim the Sabbath. Next to
God's Sabbath is the right and
Man. Infidelity impugns and
boih: by God's grace we will pavt withaei-
ther. And when the last Sabbath comes
the Sabbath of all creation—the heart, wea-
ried with its tumultuous beating, shall have
rest; the soul, fevered with ^lixieticp, «hál|
enjoy peace. The sun of that Sabbath will
never set, or veil his splendors in a cloud.
The flowers that grow in his light will nevar
fade. Our earthly Sabbaths are butfkint re-
flections of the heavenly Sabbath*,1 cast
down upon earth, dimmed by the transit of
their rays from so great a height and so dis-
tant a world. The fairest landscapes, or com-
binations of scenery on earth, are but the
outskirts of the paradise of God, fore-earnest
and intimations of that which lies beyond
them ; an 1 the happiest Sabbath heart, whose
every pulse is a Sajbbath bell, hears hot a
very inadequate echo of the chimes Slid har-
monies of that Sabbath, that rest, where we
"rest not day and ^ight," in which the song
evfr new, and yet ever sung.

' Vvjt-jÜi ^e on<5e saw a young man
turning up his glass; he was a true
glorious fellowjand was, he said, sowing
wild oats. We afterwards saw a policeman
hauling a miserable drunkard 4rom the gutter
ta the watch house. The wild oats wars be-
ing harvsted./
