The organizational meeting of the Troop 201 Alumni Foundation was held on February 2, 2002 in Longview, Texas. The incorporator was Paul Yater, who on the 75th Anniversary of Boy Scout Troop 201 was given his 50 year service pin for continuous service to Troop 201. The Articles of Incorporation were approved by the Texas Secretary of State on March 11, 2002. The IRS approved the tax exempt status of the Foundation as a 501(c)(3) in July, 2002. The stated purpose of the Troop 201 Alumni Foundation is to support the programs and activities of Boy Scout Troop 201, which celebrated its 100th anniversary in May, 2017 and continues today . The Texas Historical Association has recently approved a Texas Historical Landmark designation for Troop 201 as an entity with a designation of the Troop 201 Scout Cabin which houses the original of this Scrap Book, in the process of application.
