Hillmann Studio Collection

Fred and Mamie Hillmann moved to Boerne in 1948 and opened a jewelry store. Around 1954, Fred recognized the need for a photography studio and services and added that to the business. He was the Boerne photographer for the 1950s-1971, when he sold his business to Rex Rankin and Kenneth Herbst. He was also a city alderman for more than a decade. Fred and Mamie both died in 1977 and are buried in Boerne Cemetery. His collection of images was donated to the Patrick Heath Public Library. You can access most of the Hillmann images at the library’s local digitized archives
