Inscription at the front reads "Dear "Dods", -- May you find something within this slim volume -- Into the Morning Sun -- that pleases you, and perhaps expresses your own thoughts and feelings. Lovingly yours, Harriet Garrett. ("Aunt Hattie"). April 17, 1961". Most of the poems in the volume appeared in other publications. The author lists them on the Acknowledgements page.
