It is a three-story brick building on a raised basement of stone. Printed on the top of the image in black is the title, "St. Marie's [sic] Academy, Marshall, Texas." The postmark on the back of the card is dated Dec. 21, 1911, and the card is addressed to Mrs. Ida Swartz in Reading, Pa. Color tinted halftone postcard from around 1911 showing St. Mary's Academy, Marshall, Texas. The view shows a side entrance facing the street and part of the main entrance on the left. It is a three-story brick building on a raised basement of stone. Printed on the top of the image in black is the title, "St. Marie's [sic] Academy, Marshall, Texas." The postmark on the back of the card is dated Dec. 21, 1911, and the card is addressed to Mrs. Ida Swartz in Reading, Pa. Printed on the left edge of the message section of the back: "Published exclusively for Duke & Ayres Nickel Stores. Made in U. S. A." Holy Cross nuns founded St. Mary's Academy in Marshall in 1880. It continued until 1957. This building was constructed in 1911.
