MARRIAGE FRAUD!!!
In order to do away with this prob-
lem, I suggest that we adopt the follow-
ing ordinance. It was passed by the
British Parliament in 1770: "All
women of whatever age, rank, profession,
or degree, whether virgins, maids, or
widows, that shall impose upon, seduce
and betray into matrimony any of His
Majesty's subjects, by scents, paints,
cosmetics, washes, artificial teeth,
false hair, Spainish wool, iron staves,
hoop, high-heeled shoes, bolstered
hips, or padded bosoms shall incur the
penalty of the law enforced against
witchcraft and the like misdemeanors
and that marriage, upon conviction,
shall stand null and void."
DELTA THETA PHI FACX •
Delta Theta Phi presented its annual
New Year's Eve party at the Delt Frater-
nity House, 3502 South MacGregor. Guests
were greeted at the door by fraternity
officers. Seasonal decorations were in
evidence throughout the house. Party-
goers enjoyed two open bars and a buffet
which was served throughout the evening.
The Smokeshops, a fine and very audible
group, furnished the music and helped
bring in the New Year.
The outgoing officers were presented
certificates for the excellent work they
had done during the year. Special enter-
tainment was provided by the "Red
Barristers," a super-soul duo with long
hair—Richard Heintz and Cliff Miller.
Special guests for the evening were
Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Nipper. Mr. Nipper

the Foundation Board.

SBA'S RIDE-A-LONG
PROGRAM
In order to learn more about the func-
tioning of the police force, senior South
Texas law students, in cooperation with
Police Chief Herman Short of the Houston
Police Department, will be privileged to
ride with officers Friday evenings during
the highly active interval from 7:00-
11:00 p.m.
Initially the program will last for six
successive Fridays beginning on Feb-
ruary 24, and will be limited to fifteen
senior students. Five seniors will ride
each weekend for two evenings. There-
after, if student interest remains high,
and the experience is in fact found to be
worthwhile, then possibly the program
will be extended, but, for now, Chief
Short has limited the program.
Each student is assigned to a patrol
car and accompanies the sergeant on
his rounds of the area normally assigned
for that car. Patrolmen in charge of an
area are responsible for everything from
parking tickets to major crimes and sel-
dom leave their area unless there is an
emergency or need to cooperate with
other cars. The student observer sees
first hand the reactions of the patrolman
as an individual and in conjunction with
the rest of the force.
Any senior who is interested may con-
tact Chairman Richard Heintz. Selection
will be made on the basis of first come.
So that you will not embarrass your-
self and the school, be sure that the
only way this privilege is exercised is
through the proper channels.

WHAT'S NEW - -
ANNUAL CHRISTMAS
RECEPTION
Late Sunday afternoon, December
3, 1967, a reception honoring the
faculty was given with about 250 stu-
dents and faculty in attendance. Spon-
sored by Iota Tau T«u, Delta Theta
Phi, the Student Bar, and Phi Alpha
Delta, with the support of the admin-
istration, it provided a unique oppor-
tunity for students and faculty and
their wives to meet on a person-to-
person basis.
The wives of both fraternities pro-
vided cookies, and the arrangements for
the party were made by Iota Tau Tau.
Champagne punch added holiday cheer,
and coffee was provided for those who
hoped to study later.
It is hoped that this will be an an-
nual occasion and contribute to better
faculty-student communication at South
Texas College of Law.
