A Country Girl.
At the Opera House—The Whyte
Dramatic company comes Monday
for a week of repertoire. The en-
gagement will open with, "A Country
Girl." The Oklahoma City Okla-
homan says of the production :
"Last night the Whyte Dramatic
company presented a four-act drama
entitled "A Couutry Girl," in a
manner that pleased every individual
in the large audience, judging from
the applause the play received. In
the stellar role Mille Corbin Whyte
was as usual the favorite of the audi-
ence. ' Her support was good and
enabled her to win both the admira-
tion and unstinted appreciation cf
her portroyal of the character as-
sumed. Her conceptions of the little
things that distinguishes the gifted
from the mediocre player, such as
the proper inflection of the voice, a
nod of the head or the expression of
the face at the right time, are as
nearly perfect as is possible for hu-

The best of the Lyceum numbers
will be given next Wednesday night
at the Methodist church. Dr. Krebs
in his wonderful exhibition of sci-
ence will prove a rare entertainment.
Jacob Schmidt and family have
moved to the Plains of Texes from
Indiana and will make their home
here. The Brand extends to them a
glad welcome. Let more come on.
W. O. London and family ieft this
week for their "claim" near Clovis,
New Mexico. Their household goods
went down by wagon and Mr. and
Mrs. London followed the next day.
They will likely return to Hereford
next year.
A message to Mr. Witherspoon
last Wednesday brought the sad
news that C. W. Whitehead, secre-
tary and treasurer of the Western
Union Land Co., had dropped dead
in his office Tuesday morning. Mr.
Whitehead is well known in Here-
ford and has been interested in the
town since id beginning.
