Notes

Text: “Dear Harris - I’m writing mainly about two things - clubs and the Jag. I never have written the man in Houston who arranged for my car to be shipped home and now I can’t find any of his letters. Would you please send me his name and address so I can think him. On this same subject once more I want to thank you for arranging the whole thing. About clubs, as Shrub might have told you, I put him up for the Pi Eta Club and the Hasty Pudding and he didn’t make either of them. As far as the Pi is concerned his failure to get in is largely due to the fact that I very rarely go over to the club and don’t know many of the members well. The case of Pudding is just one of those things. I can’t understand why he didn’t make it. I talked to one of the guys who took part in the elections - he said there were three or four who didn’t like Shrub and unfortunately there were no guys who knew him & could counteract the bad votes. As far as anti-Sematism [sic] is concerned I’m sure there was none involved in the Pudding and almost sure there was none involved in the Pi. I feel bad about him not making either one - for I know how the let down feels. Denny called me the other night needless to say it was fine talking to him. I hope he has good luck in his job hunt. My courses this year are quite interesting with top prof’s in two and better than average in the rest. I hope you can make it back on the dean’s team. Looking forward to seeing you Christmas & my best to Ruth. Yours, J M K.”
