On last Tuesday evening, just
after supper, the students assem-
bled on the campus and under
the direction of Burr Cameron
and Aileen Mayo took a few les-
sons in military drill.
At eight we marched as a body
to town to witness the raising of
the flag on the square.

chapel Prof. Miller made this
announcement: “E. T. N. C.
Lions will defeat Kirkley this
afternoon. Everyone be out to
see the slaughter,” Of course
we all went and we did see the
slaughter.
E. T. N. C. had perfect team-
work, while Kirkley played her
part well. But the heavy-hitting

while Kirkley was registering
three.
E. T. led out in the first inning
with one score, and this was the
color of the game for several
rounds, when Johnston walked a
man and another one singled.
With none down. Benedict went
to bat and lifted one over the
fence and registered 3. Butthat

Monday evening. April 10, the
students met in the dining hall
for just anything that might come
up, no one knowing just what
the program would be. But
thru the thoughtfulness of Mrs
Cowling and ingenuity of several
of the young ladies a really fine
program was furnished. We
came in without any receiving
line, everybody pretending to
feel at home, new ones and all.
The tables were moved out of the
way and chairs were placed con-
veniently about the room, seem-
ingly to invite ease anil freedom.
It was easy to get a quiet place
and talk to some old friend or
stir aroun 1 and meet a new one |
that perhaps you had been eyeing
all the week. Seveiai minutes
were given over to this kind of
enjoyment. Later, followed all
kinds of games, riddles and
tricks. Standing out in point of
interest was the egg ra e in which
