WEST POINT, N.Y. (AHT-
NC)—Shawn K. Hunter, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth W. Hun-
ter,- 509 Nathan St., Burleson,
Texas, is undergoing cadet ba-
sic training at the U. S. Mili-
tary Academy, West Point, N.Y.'
Texas and the Health Depart-
ment is currently reporting po-
sitive rabies findings in at least
six animals a day.
"Regardless of whether you
are bitten by your own pet or
any other animal or creature
do not delay seeing your phy-
sician,” Dr. Cegelski said.
“You cannot rely on the beha-
vior of the animal that bit you
as an indication of whether or
not it is infected and of course
every effort should be made to
capture the animal for observa-
tion and testing,” he said.
Dr. Cegelski is urging all phy-
sicians and the general public
to make use of the regional of
fices of the Texas Department
of Health for vaccines and in-
formation.

FORT WORTH-Texans should
not delay seeing their doctor
in c ase of an animal bite be-
cause of the increasing danger
of rabies, according to Dr. John
J. Cegelski, Jr., (D.O), of San
Antonio, president of the Texas
Osteopathic Medical Associa-
tion.
In a letter to all Texas D.O.s,
Dr. Cegelski is urging the phy-
sicians to institute rabies treat-
ment procedures immediately
even before the animal is an
alyzed by the Texas State De-
partment of Health laboratory.
Dr. Cegelski said he has been
in close contact with Dr. Ray-
mond T. Moore (M.D.), com-
missioner of health, and Dr.
Moore reports an unusual num-
ber of rabid skunks as well as
othe ranimals with an unexpec-
ted aggressiveness displayed by
the afflicted adimals.
