Sorority met in the home of Janie
Peterson for the annual Christ-
mas Party and Salad Supper.
Opening ritual was led by Janie
Peterson who also read the
minutes and called roll with 12
members answering.
Teresa Hayes gave a report
from the social committee, and
Barbara Lalk read a thank you
note from Carole Jean Laqua for
a wedding gift. A thank you note
.was.ajso read from Janie Peter-
son for her Spirit of Christmas
honors and gifts. Phi Pals for
December were read by Slvia
’ Flusche.
A report was given on the
service project which was a
collection of funds and gifts for
babies for Christmas giving.
• Closing ritual was led by
Voncille Jacobi. Following the
meeting members gathered for
the salad meal at the beautifully
decorated tables. Following the
meal members exchanged gifts
with each member opening and
■ displaying what she received.

“Christmas Song for the Christ-
mas Story” theme as Ken
Baxter, director, led the national-
ly recognized Vernon High Scho-
ol choir in its highlight renditions
of Christmas music and carols.
Cynthia Baxter was accompanist.
The choir had been on an area
performance tour all day.
“With a Song in the Air” the
gathering enjoyed delectable
“Christmas goodies” attractively
prepared by the refreshment
committee, Mesdames Josephine
Cogdell, chairwoman, Elizabeth
Sachse and Helen Foster. Inter-
sperced by silver appointments,
the theme of Christmas music
was depicted by a candles and
musical instruments red and gold
centerpiece. The sequined Christ
mas motif overnet tablecloth
further enhanced the table. Poin-
settias were placed throughout
the room. Mesdames Georgia
Norwood and LaVern Franklin
arranged the settings. The regis-
tration table of Christmas spark-
ling red and green with pixie
poinsettias was directed by Miss
Olive Carter. Club officers served
as hostesses: Marye Bentley,
Elizabeth Sachse, Olive Carter,
Florence Nunnally, Georgia
Norwood, Mildred Huguelet,
Sandra Dunlap and Felicia Doug-
las.
