Dr. King R Cutter, county phy-
sician came np from Corpus Clirisii
Saturday morning and in company
wiili Dr. L. F. Layton of this city
l at once it sti uted an investigation < f
the reported existence of smallpox
in the suburb sou t It whs t of the town
! Thev deseovered eleven genuine
cases of smallpox and fourteen sus-
pect P'tis cases.
All of tlit cases are under guard
and there is no great occasion for
alarm.
Compusory vaccination was insti-
tuted .
The citizens in mass meeting as-
sembled at Hobbs’ ball passed a
resolution thanking Dr. Cutler for
1 Ids prou.pt and efficient services
rendered to prevent the spread of
smallpox. Dr Southern Burke,
assistant county physician assisted
Health Officer Dr. King R. Cutler
in vaccinating 560 persons at this
place. The Mexican people com-
plimented the doctors for their
quick work and for their politeness
and consideration for the Mexican
race.
A number of the prominent Mexi-
can citizens of Alice have authoriz-
ed the Echo to express their heart-
felt thanks to Dr. Cottier, the
health officer, and his assistant Dr,
Burke for tlier courteous treatment
of their race and expeditions work
in vaccinating their people.
