REMEMBER
matter in charge met in Colora
do last Saturday and decided the
matter definitely. Big Springs
was an applicant, but seeing that
she was pursuing a forlorn hope,
she will co-operate with Colora-
do and help to make the normal
a big success.
Several counties will be repre-
sented at the Normal, including
Mitchell, Howard, Sterling, Bor-
den, Scurry, Nolan and others
The faculty as selected is one
of the strongest that could have
been secured, and The News
predicts a howling success for
the Normal under the leadership
and guidance of such a capable
faculty as the following: C. L.
McDonal, superintendent of
Colerado Schools, conductor; C.
E. Thomas, principal Big Springs
Schools, J. W. Hale, superin-
tendent of Roscoe Schools, W.
W. Shepperd, principal of High
School of Snyder, T. J. Yoe,
former superintendent of Schools
1 of Colorado. A primary teacher
will In* selected later.
It is proposee by the faculty
I to have a Chautauqua during the
first part of the Noimal, when
they expect to have some able
speakers to entertain the peo-
ple, including State Superin
' tcndent R. B. Couisins, Hon.
i W. R. Smith, S. P. Brooks, of
! Baylor University, Waco, and
1 are negotiating to secure the
I matchless orator and great com-
| moner, William Jenning Bryan,
1 to come here and lecture. Also
i others of note. However, they
| are not sure as to this matter
yet, and further announcements
will be made later.
Let every one put their shoul-
1 ders to the wheel and help to
make the Normal a great suc-
cess, and entertain all our visit-
ors in such a royal and hospit-
able manner they will vote unan-
j imously to come back next sum-

Denominational Oxen.
A gentleman traveling in Tex-
as met on the road a wagon
drawn by four oxen and driven
by a countryman, who, in ad-
dition to the skill flourshing and
crack of the whip, was vocifer-
ously encouraging the horned
horses after this fashion: “Haw,
Presbyterian! get up, Metho-
dist!”
The traveler stopped thedriv.
er, remarking to him that he had
strange nam *s for l.is oxen, and
he would like to know why he
thus called them.
“Well,” said the driver, “ 1
call this ox Presbyterian be-
cause he’s true blue and never
fails, pulls through ditficulties,
and holds up to the end. I call
1 this one Baptist, because he’s
always after the water and seems
if he’d never get enough; then
again he won’t eat with the oth-
ers. I call thU one Episcopa.
lian because he has a mighty
way of holding his head up, and
if the yoke gets a little tight he
| tries to get clear of the traces.
11 call this ox^Methodist because
j he puffs and plows as he goes
j along, and you’d thing he’s
| pulling all creation, but he
dosen’t pull a single pound un-
! less you continually stir him up.”
