granted seven and turned the
others down.

To eome to Mineral Wells and
drink the water may mean msny
years added to your life; we
know it will if you are ailing and
have vitality enough to recuper-
ate. Hundreds are brought here
on cots, stretchers and vehicles.
Some can sit but can neither
walk or stand. It is safe to say
that over 90 per cent of them are
benefited and 75 per cent are
cured. Surely one more can be
healed. ,
An Illinois young lady went
to Manila to marry her intended,
but when she arrived from her
long journey her lover sent her
word that he could not meet her.
Instead of returning home to
meet the jeers of her neighbors,
she pluckily concluded to remain
and teach the young Filipino
idea how to shoot. While doing
so s|ie ought to teach herself
how to shoot and go hunting for
for that scoundrel who jilted her.

The president, during his
western trip, will stop over Sun<
day at Sharon Springs, Kan
•as. There is only one preacher
in Wallace county, of which
Sharon Springs is the principal
town, and he is a Swede. The
people began ftftttng around for
a Dutch preacher, supposing
that their guest would like to at-
tend ohuroh. But the managers
of the special have requested
that several good saddle ponies
be put in readinees for the occa-
sion, and they are now scouring
the oountry for bronehoe. Mr.
Roosevelt ia so different from the
other president# that the people
are at a toes to know how to en-
tertain him.
