Note from donor: "I purchased the above described shoes from the Smart Shop, Houston, Texas in late 1948 or 1949.
I paid $80.00 for them. I do not remember if there was a sales tax in Texas or Houston at that time. At todays prices I believe I would have to pay between $160.00 and $240.00."
