In front of the stage stand four people in navy uniforms, one holding a blue flag on a tilted pole while another holds an American flag on an upright pole. On the stage is a mascot and a person with their arms raised, to the left of which is a white pyramid that four people stand on. The label on the back of the photograph identifies these four people as the Dallas-based recording artists Sons of Harmony who are performing the national anthem. White walls at the back of the stage are decorated with the Texas Motor Speedway name and logos as well as the logos of the Excite 500 and the Indy Racing Northern Light Series. Crowds stand next to both ends of the stage while other people stand on the swath of grass behind the stage. Smoke billows from objects placed on the grass. Opposite the stage on the other side of the grass is a stretch of road that people stand at regular intervals along, all facing towards a lien of small buildings and a large parking lot.
