Item description from donor: "A painting for an Instagram art challenge, Gouachetober. This painting follows the prompt, "INORGANIC-ORGANIC."
Series description from donor: "During the year 2020 as COVID-19 continued to be present in people's lives, I depended on creating art to keep me sane as I still had to work in person during the pandemic, helping library patrons while attending online graduate school. Although I primarily work with digital art, I decided I wanted to try painting with gouache again to work on my traditional painting skills and because the process of painting (figuring out the right color palette, choosing a subject, etc.) relaxes me from other stress I may have while helping me focus on a specific task (e.g., completing a piece). The tree frog painting is a simple study of a tree frog and testing the M. Graham gouache paints for the first time. The "Organic_Inorganic" picture takes inspiration from background reference images of desert mountain landscapes and a picture of a robot, an attempt to contrast cool shadows of the inorganic object with the warm tones of the organic background."
