Illustration of a cat drinking milk from a bowl, while two honey bees float by, that reads "milk and honey." The advertisement reads, " A fashion report on our new spring colors. Each year at this time we select a color, or family of colors, that we predict will be the No. 1 choice for spring. Off hand this may not seem any great feat, since the news of the spring collections is appearing everywhere. But to pick the right color a year in advance is another story. And that is about how long it takes to prepare a store-wide color presentation. We put the finger on Milk and Honey last March. Then headed straight for the color specialist at Forstmann, to decide on the wools and have them specially dyed. On to Moygashel to get the linens tinted just the perfect shade. And now gathering our swatches we were off to Andrew Geller and Palter de Liso, to Ben King and Bienen-Davis, to Andre S. David and Kay Fuchs to have leathers tanned and processed for an exact match. Into each couture house to check which worsted, which silk, which linen would adapt to which design. Now to gather it all together and see how the stories coordinate. If the bags are tailored, so go the shoes and belts. If the flowers are milk they will look wonderful on the honey shades. But does that gilet go with the hat? Doesn't this scarf have a touch too much yellow - can't use it. So the months ticked off while most people were thinking of fur coats and fall colors, and we wondered if there wasn't an easier way. The has arrived! The collections have arrived! The Brogues* and Trigeres and Davidows and Rentners have cleared inspection, and now our colors are ready to be introduced to our greatest critics. You. Everybody in the fashion world loved them - the designers who worked with them, the fabric makers - several fashion editors who are planning to feature these tones in their spring issues. But you, our patrons have final word. So now we need some pretty ads, some pretty color in the newspapers and some pretty displays. Here is the unveiling: Milk, a pale almost-white beige. And Honey that rangers from the delecate Deuxville honey to golden Buckwheat shade. (See we're even experts on honey, now). Watch our ads this week, see our windows, our Baker Hotel Mural Room Fashion Show featuring the colors - and of course, we invite you to see Milk and Honey throughout the store and wear them through the season. We know you'll like them! Neiman-Marcus."
