Transcript of script: "(SAN FRANCISCO)--THE WHITE HOUSE SAYS IT WILL SEEK CONGRESSIONAL ACTION TO END A RENEWED STRIKE BY 13,000 LONGSHOREMEN AT 24 WEST COAST PORTS. PRESIDENTIAL NEWS SECRETARY RONALD ZIEGLER SAYS THE NIXON ADMINISTRATION IS EXAMINING ALTERNATIVE COURSES OF ACTION THAT MIGHT BE RECOMMENDED TO CONGRESS. BUT HE DID NOT DISCLOSE ANY DETAILS. PRESIDENT OF THE INTERNATIONAL LONGSHOREMEN'S AND WAREHOUSEMEN'S UNION--HARRY BRIDGES--SAYS THE UNION BROKE OFF NEGOTIATIONS WITH THE PACIFIC MARITIME ASSOCIATION ON THE ISSUE OF RETROACTIVITY. BRIDGES SAID FEDERAL EDIATIOR CURTIS COUNTS PUT TO BOTH SIDES THE PROPOSITION THAT THE TALKS CONTINUE WITH ANY FINAL AGREEMENT TERMS TRETOACTIVE TO NOVEMBER 14TH. HE SAID HIS UNION AGREED BUT THE SHIPPING ASSOCIATION DID NOT. THE NOVEMBER 14TH RETROACTIVITY DATE MARKS THE START OF PHASE TWO OF NIXON'S ECONOMY CONTROL PROGRAM. (LONDON)--TEAMS OF SCIENTISTS EQUIPPED WITH PROTECTIVE CLOTHING HAVE BEEN RUSHED TO SOUTHWEST ENGLAND. THEY'LL HELP IDENTIFY AND DESTROY DURMS OF DANGEROUS CHEMICALS FROM A SPANISH FREIGHTER THAT SANK 75 MILES OFF THE CORNISH COAST LAST MONTH. EXPERTS FEAR THE ONE THOUSAND 45-GALLON DRUMS ARE EITHER BOBBING TOWARD THE COAST OR HAVE SUNK AND WILL RELEASE THEIR CONTENTS INTO THE OCEAN WHEN THEY CORRODE. UNION CARDIDE OF BELGIUM SAYS THE CARGO INCLUDED DRUMS OF CHEMICALS WHICH BURN AND IMPAIR BREATHING CONTAIN A POISONOUS VAPOR. (HOLLAND, MICHIGAN)--POLICE SAY A YELLOW COUGAR WAS STOLEN YESTERDAY FROM AN AUTOMOBILE SHOWROOM IN HOLLAND, MICHIGAN. HOWEVER, IT HAD FOUR LEGS--NOT FOUR WHEELS. POLICE SAY A YOUNG MAN WALKED INTO THE SHOWROOM, GRABBED THE BIG STUFFED ANIMAL AND RAN OFF WITH IT. THE ANIMAL WAS BEING USED IN ADVERTISING THE MERCURY COUGAR.
