The Special Collections Department collects and preserves rare and unique materials including rare books, oral histories, university archives, historical manuscripts, maps, microfilm, photographs, art and artifacts. The department is located in UNT's Willis Library in the fourth floor Reading Room.

The theme of the conference was "Gems of the past, present, and future."
Jane and Alrene have been librarians for thirty years at Champion Forest-Baptist Church in Houston. They both are degreed librarians and are retired public school librarians after thirty years of service. They now serve as CSLA Board members and are active in the Houston Area Chapter.
