The National Museum of the Pacific War presents an oral interview with Dempster W. Martin. Martin grew up on a farm in Indiana, finished high school in 1942, and received agriculture deferments for several years during the war. Finally, in February, 1945, he volunteered for service in the Navy. Martin was in radio and cryptography school in Memphis, Tennessee when the war ended. Then he was shipped to New Orleans.
