Malinosky completed the Navy Aviation Cadet Training Program, and received his wings in November of 1939. He was assigned to the USS Chenango (CVE-28), and served as a Landing Signal Officer. Oral History Interview with Hadwick Thompson, November 28, 2000

Description: The National Museum of the Pacific War presents an oral interview with Hadwick Thompson. Thompson joined the Navy in 1939 and received basic training in San Diego. Upon completion, he was assigned to steward school because he was African American. He boarded the USS Ramsay (DM-16), which broke down twice en route to Pearl Harbor.
