the happy parents of a bouncing
baby girl which arrived Sunday
evening. Mother and child doing
well.
James Thomas, one of Hereford's
up-to-date contractors and builders,
took a trip into Castro county
Sunday. He reports everything as
booming over in that section.
E. S. Prentiss of Dallas was in
town the first part of the week. He
is looking for a location for a paint
and paper store, he being a practi-
cal painter and paper hanger.
T. M. Cleek and E. S. Cooper,
prominent cattlemen of Panhandle
City, arrived in town Monday and
are investigating the advantages of
this district with the view of lo-
cating here.

J. R. Kelley, his ranch property
and improvements, situated about
ten miles northwest of town. Con-
sideration $1,250.
H. A. Carlisle of Denver spent
the first part of the week in town,
delivering about fifteen pieces of art
in the way of crayon portraits to as
many of our citizens.
Hinton & May, our liverymen,
had the misfortune to have one of
their valuable horses die Sunday
evening. He was offered $200 for
it the Thursday before, but refused
to sell him.

Notice is hereby given that The Pecos ft
Northern Texas Railway company will apply
to the twenty-seventh Legislature of Texas,
now in session for the enactment of a special
law or laws, authorizing said company, (1)
to purchase, lease or otherwise acquire the
properties and franchises of the Pecos River
Railway Company; (2) to construct branches
and extensions of same; (3) to lease and
operate the property and the franchises of
The Pecos Valley ft Northeastern Railway
Company, including any branches and ex-
tensions thereof hereafter contructed.
