“Liberation”
The Symbionese Liberation
Army, which kidnapped Pa-
tricia Hearst as a means of
compelling her father to ac-
cede to their extravagant de-
mands, may be composed of
people who actually believe
that they are working for
justice for an oppressed seg-
ment of our society. This
has been suggested by some
who choose to give the CLa.
the benefit
However,
who is to
what the
means to them is not entirely
clear. The leaders of the
SLA have indicated that they
want some criminals now in
prison to be set free. They
have also shown by their
deeds that they are
averse to taking freedom —
or even life — from those
who have been chosen to be
their victims. They have
stated that it was the SLA
that planned and carried out
the murder of an outstanding
black educator in Oakland,
California.
Deadly Parasite
“Symbionese” is a biolog-
ical term descriptive of an
organism living in tnore or
less intimate association or
even close union with another
organism. It may refer to
an organism Which is bene-
ficial — or, at least, not
harmful — to the organism
to which it is joined or it
may refer to an organism
which is a parasite that may
eventually kill the organism
to which it is joined. The
statements issued by the
Symbionese Liberation Army
leave no doubt that it is the
objective of the organization

This use of the word “liber-
ation” by groups which ad-
vocate radical changes in our
social structure should arouse
our interest and perhaps cause
us to question the motives
of the organizations which
identify themselves by this
word.
Is the “liberation” that they
have in mind the kind that
Russia used in “liberating”
Hungary and Czechoslovakia?
Perverted “Liberation”
Many women have taken
a strong stand against the
Women’s Liberation move-
ment, declaring that they
are against many of the
things that the leadens of the
movement are promoting: un-
limited abortion, sexual per-
missiveness, repeal of laws
against prostitution, and other
major goals of the so-called
“Women’s Liberation” move-
ment. If this is what “lib-
eration” means, they don’t
want it.
There is
tion which
but which
nobody. It is spiritual libera-
tion — which is, in the long
run, the most important kind
of liberation that we can have.
There was a Teacher long
ago Who said to His follow-
ers, “If the Son therefore
shall make you free, ye shall
be free indeed.”
But any “liberation” which
requires the killing or kidnap-
ping of innocent people to ac-
complish its goals must be
eliminated from our society.
Society at large must be
freed from this “liberation”
movement.

BIBLE QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
-Bill J/mes
Let us turn our attention today to the birth of Christ. First
let me state that Christ was born of a virgin. The birth of our
Saviour was miraculous. He was conceived of the Holy Spirit
and born of the virgin Mary. Many people today reject this
fact taught in the Bible. In reality they are questioning the
authority of the Bible. Let us see what the New Testament
teaches about the virgin birth of Christ.
Seven hundred years before this event, Isaiah proclaimed,
"Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: behold, a
virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his
name Immanuel. " (Isa 7:14) Some say today that the thrust
of the word (virgin) is simply "young woman. " However, the
apostle Matthew settles the matter in stating Mary "was found
with child of the Holy Spirit" before she and Josephy "came
together. " (Matt 1:18) In addition he declares that this is a
fulfillment of Isaiahs prophecy. (Matt 1:23) If he misrepresen-
ted Isaiah's original thought, the indictment must be against
the Holy Spirit who guided him in the selection of the word.
Furthermore, if Jesus was not virgin born, Mary "becomes
the most despicable parody of womanhood that degrades the
pages of history. " She stood at the foot of the cross (John 18
19:26), and watched the agony of her Son, whose suffering
was due to His claim of being God's Son. Shy did she not
rush forward and save her Son by revealing His true father?
Obviously she knew His claim was factual, He had no earthly
-father!
No man today can reject the virgin birth of Christ and be
pleasing to God. Direct all questions to the address below.
