Mrs M Vines Accepts Music Class
at Mt. Pleasant
Mrs. M. Vines the talented
and brilliant teacher of music in
the Jefferson public school has
resigned and accepted the posi
tion to teat ii music in the city
school at Mt. Pleasant it ia
with much regret that Mrs.
Vines' class and many friends
learn of her decision to leave
after having accepted for anoth

from Mt. Pleasant comes unso
lieited and witli much greater
inducements than the Jefferson

RfiNtoring Humus to the Soil.
One of the most important
questions for the Bast Texas
farmer is the best method of re
storing humus to his worn and
leached soils; whether to turn
under a crop of pea vines in the
fall for that purpose or to cut
and feed the vines to his stock
the manure to lie returned to the
sod and to plow under stubble
a* early as possible in the fall at
the same time sowing rye as a
winter cover crop and pasture to
turn under in the spring The
latter course all things consul
ered is per haps the best and all
cotton and corn land land should
be planted so rye or winter oats
live will stand more vicissitudes
of season and climate than any
of the small grains and will grow
on poorer land. Secure your
seed now and he ready to plant
at t lie ti i st oppoi t unity

WAIT PAINT
There are painters and wait
its. Whieh am I /oiug to do?
l'aint or wait?
Which is hotter?
How much am I worth with
my property waiting? How
much if I paint? Will my prop
ei'ty he worth more if I paint?
Say it costs a gallon
Pevoel wouldn't paint any other
and or il more for putting
it on. That's j<r>0 or $t>0 a 1'>-
gallon job.
The money is gone. Is it in
the house? Is it all in the

Suppose I were .selling; what

painted and what should I got
for that it needing paint? I
wonder why men paint before

Heavy Rainstorm F&ll Near Ten
Inches in 36 Hours.
The dry spell was broken last
Friday morning by a heavy rain
storm with much electrical dis
play. There were two heavy
falls of rain one about » a. m.
and at 7 a. m. Hie st reets and
yards in low sections were Hood
ed and under water for some
time. This rain was followed
by another fall nearly as heavy
early Saturday morning and
with nearly the same result-
The rainfall was general in all
West and Kast Texas. It is
worth much money to Marion
county by helping all late crops
and there will be much planting
for late gardens.
