to be a force. It was never meant to be a
fortress. If the church digs in and becomes
entrenched, it will fail in its mission. God
designed it for offensive action, to be a
marching, mighty army. Hell is a fortress.
Jesus said "the gates of hell shall not
prevail" against the church. He meant
there is no power, no opposition, no obsta-
cle the church cannot march through and
overcome. It's the responsibility of the
church of the Lord Jesus Christ to deliver
God's message. We must deliver it--not
only in word but in power(1 Thess. 1:5).
The Last Election?
The reason we're having problems with
weak political leadership is simply that
men of true character are not involved, not
active in sharing with others. As a result,
we're not sharing Christian values with the
poor, with minorities, or with the elite;
we're not winning people to Christ. Martin
Luther King shouldn't have had to tell us
we should love and reach the blacks. That
was the preachers' responsibility. It's our
responsibility not only to love people, but
to get involved with them. They don't need
a handout. They need a hand outstretched
in Christian love.
Many military and political leaders have
told me this could be America's last election
unless we turn to God. Our only hope is to
return to God. God never left us. We left
God, and we must turn back to Him.
Your Support Vital
And we must turn back for the right
reason. Most people turn to God because
of their discomfort, not because of God's
displeasure. But we must turn as the
Prodigal Son did. He went back to his
Father, not to say, "I got into trouble," but
rather, "I have sinned against heaven,
and before thee" (Luke 15:18). He left
the pigpen because of his awareness of his
sinful condition.
America has sinned against a Holy
God. Her only hope is to repent and get
back to God.
This is the message that burns in my
heart. I must deliver it to the nation, and I
must have the prayers and support of
people like you to do it
Time is running out. Between now and
November, we must call all the church and
the nation to prayer. We must also preach
that we must turn from our wicked ways,
because God won't hear us unless we
renounce our unrighteousness (2 Chron.
7:14).
Please help me deliver God's message.
I am calling on you as never before not only
to pray but to support our ministry finan-
cially in these critical last days. Only with
your help will I be able to preach repen-
tance and salvation through Christ to a sin-
sick and dying America before it is too
late. Q
