[Dallas Fire Station 48 Truck]

Description: Photograph of the Dallas Fire Station 48 fire truck parked in front of the station. Two firefighters in uniform sit in the driver and passenger seat of the fire engine, while another firefighter stand on the truck, behind the cab. Behind the fire truck, the garage door is open. There are handwritten notes on the bottom border of the photograph. On the back of the photograph is typewritten and stamped information about the photo, as well as handwritten notes.

Description: Presidential address given by Jesse E. Thompson before the Texas Surgical Society in San Antonio, Texas. In the speech, Thompson discusses Cabeza de Vaca's time living with the Native Americans of Texas and the conquest of Mexico, with particular focus on the operations he performed, including the first recorded surgical operation in North America.
