Description: Photograph of a Sunday School class in front of the Art Deco facade of the Midland County Courthouse. Most wear hats, and a handful of women stand in the right corner along a man in a wheelchair. A man holding a baby, in the second row, fifth from right, is Troy Eiland, holding Bethel Eiland. The class's teacher was Paul T. Vickers, and its president Harry L. Haight, and they met in the Scharbauer Hotel Ballroom on the southeast corner of Loraine and Wall Street.

[Tom Thumb Wedding, First Methodist Midland]

Description: Photograph of a Tom Thumb wedding under the First Methodist Church in Midland, held on the steps of the Midland County Courthouse. A boy in a tuxedo and a girl in a bridal gown stand on the courtyard steps, flocked by "bridesmaids" holding bouquets of flowers. Tom Thumb weddings were held as fundraisers for churches, imitating the famed dwarf performer General Tom Thumb's wedding and party in the 19th century.

[A Japanese Submarine at the Midland County Courthouse]

Description: Photograph of a Japanese submarine, carried by a truck captured at Oahu on December 8, 1941, on display in front of the Midland County Courthouse.
