The man is wearing a hat, smoking a pipe, and carrying two buckets. The children are wearing plaid short-sleeved shirts. The back edge of the clearing is line with post and wire fencing and trees on one side and on the other side is a farmhouse. On the side of the farmhouse is a clothesline with linens hanging to dry.
