Description: Postcard image of a group of young Mexican Boys sitting on their donkeys. Eight unidentified young Mexican boys sit on their donkeys to pose for this picture - eight boys sitting on six donkeys. The boys look proud to be on their donkeys - their faces show their character. The boys are posing in front of some unmarked buildings and railroad tracks but there is not much provided, in the way of landmarks, to give us the exact location of where this image was captured. [A Donkey on 6th Street Mineral Wells, 1916]

Description: Donkeys were still prevalent in 1916, and so were the grass-grown steel tracks of the "Dinky Cars" (Mineral Wells Lakewood Park Scenic Railway which had ceased operations in 1909) on NW 6th Street. The house to the left is probably Colonial Revival--an example of the architecture of this time. The source of the photograph is A. F. Weaver's, "TIME WAS in Mineral Wells..." first edition, 1975, on page 82.

"Three Musketeers" of 1918

Description: Photograph of the "Three Musketeers" of 1918. L-R: Lee Trimble, Clint Holden, and Boone Oliphant. Lee is riding the Brite stallion, Clint is riding the Mexican raider mule and Boone is riding the Mexican raiders' white horse. Lee claimed that the horses did not like the mules. They all wear hats and have rifles. This photo was included in a report by McMinn White for an American History class at Marfa High School in 1975.
