[Program for the FRESHMAN-SOPHOMORE DEBATE of Simmons College]

A printed program for the Freshman-Sophomore Debate held in Simmons Auditorium dated December 4, 1914. The debate topic is listed as follows: "Resolved that the nations should disarm and settle all disputes by arbitration." This item was originally part of a scrapbook assembled by Thomas Norwood Carswell, largely containing items related to his time at Simmons College (Abilene, Texas).

Sgt. George V. Huffmon, nurse in the U. S. Army Medical Corps is pictured in front of the Memorial to the Eight Medicine Students in Old Havana, Cuba. The back of this picture postcard is stamped May 29, 1907, Guanajay, Cuba and it arrived in Denton on June 4th, 1907. The postcard is addressed to Miss Hallie Thurmon, of Denton, Texas. Sgt. Soldiers in Front of Barracks

Postcard of three male soldiers in front of a wooden barrack. There is one double-hung window behind them with a small overhang on top. The men are all wearing identical uniforms which consist of button-up jackets with multiple button-flap pockets, hats, and bulging pants that are tucked inside tall boots. A hand-written notation on the back of the postcard identifies the man on the right as John Petersen.
