Description: Patent for a propeller-wheel for steam and other vessels. This invention is meant "to provide a propeller by which a maximum speed may be obtained without a proportionate increase in toe motive power employed" (lines 15-18). It doesn't have a lateral resistance of water and does not diffuse water in all directions.

Life-Boat.

Description: Patent for a life-boat that improves on a previous patent (No. 512,591) for a hydraulic propelling device and adapts the jet propulsion means to a life boat. The life-boat is made to have compartments that, when one compartment gets crushed, the others remain afloat. The water goes into the stove or crushed compartment and can be used to propel the boat forward. Chain-Steamer.

Description: Patent for a chain steamer that has an improved means of propulsion with a uniform speed despite a changing current. It does not allow the boat to laterally deflect. It is especially meant to be used with tow boats that travel on fast-moving, shallow streams. It can be used to move ferry boats across fast-moving rivers as well.
