Description: Note between Levi Perryman and Mrs. Eliabeth Henwood in which he promises to pay her two hundred and forty five dollars in two years time from the date of the document. There are two stamps on the back, one from First National Bank of Montague, Texas, and the other which says "Paid."

[Letter from Ora Osterhout to Paul Osterhout, May 6, 1886]

Description: Letter from Ora Osterhout from Paul Osterhout. She wrote to tell her brother that she wanted to hear from him more often and what was happening with their family. She told him that Gertrude sent him some money and that their father might be able to send some too. Gertrude has been thinking about attending school in Independence and Ora wrote of a garden that they had started.

[Bill of Sale and Transfer from George L. Leigh to John A. Bonnell]

Description: Bill of sale from George L. Leigh to John A. Bonnell acknowledging the sale of land and 110 heads of cattle. The note goes on to say that this "transfer and Bill of Sale is made on the following terms and conditions to secure the payment of a promissory note for $782.66" from Bonnell, payable on May 1, 1887. The check included in the record is worth $716.66 from John A. Bonnell to Edward A. Leigh.

Electrical Fare-Box.

Description: Patent for device "to improve the illumination and increase the efficiency and subserviency of street-care fare-boxes. To these ends the source of light is located in the interior of the box, instead of being placed in a separate chamber at the outside of the box, as is now done, and electrical agency is utilized to produce the light and also to notify the driver that a passenger requires change and when a fair has been deposited in the box" (lines 8-17).
