Dr. Shaw (1841-1926) later left the ordained ministry in the Methodist Episcopal Church, South and became a "free thinker." He is buried in Oakwood Cemetery in Waco, Texas, where a VA grave marker was later placed on his grave. He is visible from the chest-up and wears a dark-colored three-piece suit and a bow tie.
