Description: Group portrait of 52 people posing outside a building, identified by text in the lower-right corner as "Employee Group, Waco Twine Mill." [James B. Baker Brickyard]

Description: Photograph of a brickyard owned by James B. Baker (1847–1918) in East Waco. Hundreds of undried bricks are laid out in neat rows and stacks along the center of the image, with tens of workers standing among the stacks. Behind the stacks of bricks are small wooden houses, and a large water tank hoisted on a wooden platform. Many workers are Black, and wear work shirts and hats. Several children stand at right next to bricks, in front of a man with a hat in a suit and tie.
