A Jinricksha

Description: Notes that accompany the photograph read: "Picture taken near the top of the thousand steps which used to climb East Mountain up NE 3rd Street. Path can still be seen going up the side of the mountain at this point." The souvenir picture was taken in the 1930's, and is believed to have been taken at the photographer's cabin, where the winding donkey trail formerly crossed the steps.

Ceremonial skirt

Description: Ceremonial Skirt of ochre-orange cotton with purple stripes and metallic thread. One piece of fabric sew into a floor-length tube, with tripes running horizontally. Textile created on a backstrap loom, design motifs hand embroidered with couched metallic threads, with decorative band of densely-embroidered geometric motifs at the bottom hem.

[Factory workers in the 1930s]

Description: Photograph of men who work at a boot factory. The workers' names, standing from left to right, are named N.J. Dunaway, Glen Walker, Jim Ritchie, Roy "Wads" Hillard, and Leonard Ritchie. Out of the five men, Dunaway and Ritchie have died after the photo, Hillard was still alive after the photo was taken, and the living status of Walker and Ritchie is unknown.

Description: Caplet of ermine. A) Short cape/caplet of white ermine fur. No collar, with high neckline. Single armhole at right side, set low, allowing lower arm to come through. Left side with no armhole, but with extra fullness so caplet drapes over arm. Fastens at upper left with hook and loop.
