[A pipe in the ground at a construction site]

Description: Photograph of men working on a construction site that has a pipeline in a ditch. Most of the men are standing on the edges of the ditch, but one man is standing in the ditch and another is standing on top of the pipe. The right edge of the ditch has a mound of dirt on it that was excavated from the ditch. The pipeline has dirt on top o it and there is space between the pipe and the walls of the ditch. In the background of the image, trees are visible and the sky is cloudy.

Window-Sash Lock.

Description: Patent for a device which may be attached to the upper and lower sashes of a window to firmly lock them in position. The device is special because "the attachment to the upper sash does not project into the path of the lower sash nor interfere with its operation" (lines 16-19).

Description: Patent for a ventilating cowl for buildings for fire prevention by causing smoke and sparks to pass outside of a building or deflate to the surface below.
