Animal-Stock.

Description: Patent for an improved animal-stock that holds animals during branding, dehorning, castrating, &c. It looks like an open-topped cage where the operator puts the animal, and the animal cannot move. The invention is on a platform and can tip to one side and a chain is tied from the top of the machine to the bottom of the frame.

Description: Soldering iron with a copper plated head, four sided with a pyramid point, with an octagonal body of head. At the back of the head there is a long painted black iron neck that has been inserted into the head. The neck ends in a point. Description: Patent for a simple and expensive knee-pad used while picking cotton, berries, &c. The invention affords "the most perfect protection to the user by protecting his knee against contact with objects which would tend to bruise and injure it, and by preventing the dampness of the ground from being transmitted to the knee, which, as is well known, results in various diseases, such as rheumatism" (lines 13-20).

Gate.

Description: Patent for a gate "used to guard thoroughfares on farms, passages into fields and for like purposes, and belongs to a class wherein two similar gates are together employed, and are pivoted to rock on a frame, so as to open a passage through said fame, or close the gate opening as occasion may require" (lines 10-16).
