[Fire on the South Side of the Square]

Description: At 3:45 a.m., Wednesday, May 10, 1972, a fire broke out at the Three Sisters Restaurant on the South side of the Square. The fire worsened and a total of 41 firemen were called in to help. This is the view of the backside of the buildings along Walnut Street. The restaurant was destroyed and one of the walls collapsed into Ever's Hardware on the east side. It also spread into Bomar's Men's Clothing on the west side. All three businesses were destroyed.

[Fire at Cedar Crest Apartments in Denton]

Description: Photograph of a fire at the Cedar Crest apartment complex with a Denton Fire Department fire engine in the foreground and an unidentified man standing on the second floor with fire and smoke in the background. The Cedar Crest apartments, now called Vendi Place, is located at 223 Avenue G. The fire was started by a student who was cooking. They put out the fire and went to class, but the flames had traveled up the vent and had gone into the attic.
