[Transcript of Letter from Chamberlain Jones to Stephen F. Austin, October 10, 1830]

Description: Copy of transcript for a letter from Chamberlain Jones to Stephen F. Austin, in which Chamberlain informs Austin that he has purchased part of John Cummings' interest in the silver mine on the Trinity River. Jones requests further information regarding plans to put bring the mine into production, as well as, the current value of the mineral. Jones also suggests to Austin that would be to the benefit of the enterprise to arrange a meeting of the shareholders in the coming year.

Well-Boring Apparatus

Description: Patent for "new and useful improvements in well boring apparatus. The object of the invention is to provide an apparatus of the character described embodying a rotary table and a novel means for connecting the same to the string of pipe, which extends down into the well and which is rotated by said table and in turn rotates the boring tool carried by the lower end of said spring of pipe" (lines 9-18) including instructions and illustrations.

Well-Drilling Apparatus.

Description: Patent for an Artesian or oil well drilling apparatus that has a detachable drill-bit in its tubing and has an "improved means whereby an expansion drill bit or blade of any preferred construction can be secured to or detached from the drill tubing without removing the latter from the well" (lines 12-15). The tubing does not accidentally detach, and the tubing can rotate in either direction.

Process of Leaching Copper Ores

Description: Patent for "a method of recovering copper by the electrolysis of copper solutions of any suitable kind, obtained by the lixiviation of the ore" (lines 9-12). The improvement in this method is that almost all the sulfuric acid and other leaching agents are used up prior to the copper going to the electrolysis tanks which increases the amount of copper recovered and the reduction of accumulated biproducts.
