Description: Photograph of an oil derrick in a port in Los Angeles. The derrick is in the middle of the water, and there is a tall tower and some other structures on the platform where it is located. There are some ships and boats in the water around the derrick and along the shore of the water there are buildings, power lines, and factories.

Description: Letter from Daniel W. Kempner to Paul D. Dodds and Louise E. Friese asking that they secure some good French champagne for his brother Isaac H. Kempner to have on his cruise to Hawaii. A separate page features some handwritten notes presumably done by Mr. Kempner on the back of a brochure for a bank in Arizona.
