Several Poses of C. A. Williams

Description: Six different head-and-shoulder portraits of C. A. Williams printed very small on one piece of photographic paper. Very likely a proof sheet. Charles Alexander Williams was born in Arkansas in 1832 and died in Denton County in 1922. He was Sheriff of Denton County from 1856-1858, and then once again from 1866-1867.

Description: Snapshot of a frame house behind a picket fence with a horse-drawn buggy and two unidentified individuals in the yard. A horse-drawn wagon is in the foreground in front of the picket fence. We have a second photo of this house taken from a different perspective. A note on the back of it says "Cure's home". Cure's Home

Description: Snapshot of frame house surrounded by picket fence. An unidentified person can be seen standing on the porch. Labelled "Cure's Home" on the back of the photograph. After looking through the census for anyone with the last name of "Cure" we did find a family living near Sanger, one J. H. Cure with a wife, Neomi. This is just speculation on our part, however.

He went to school in Denton, attended North Texas Normal College and studied in the Army Training Corps. By 1920, he was a teacher, then later became a banker. Lee eventually ran for office and was mayor of Denton from 1938-45.
