[Letter from Sam Myres to R. C. Crane, May, 2 1933

Description: Letter from Sam Myres to Judge R. C. Crane apologizing for taking so long to write him back after his kind letter asking how Myers was doing. Myres explains that he has been avoiding doing work, and paying honest obligations and so that is why he has not responded. He tells Crane about a new book out that he has enjoyed and if Crane is interested, offers to mail it to him so he can also read it. Myres says that the next time he is in Sweet Water, he hopes to meet up with Crane to catch up.

Souvenirs of a Saddlemaker

Description: Short essay describing items owned by Sam Myres that were later donated to a museum after his death. In particular, it mentions a framed citation from the Secratary of War for distinguished service as well as a copy of the 1953 issue of the West Texas Historical Society Yearbook. [Sam Myres and his Buscadero Gunbelt]

Description: Newspaper clipping that talks about Sam Myres and his role as the inventor of the Buscadero Gunbelt. This belt was extremely efficient due to the fact that the belt "canted the pistol butt forward, and the holster toe backward, permitting the wearer to whip out his pistol efficiently and quickly." It goes on to explain that buscadero means "the one who is hunted" or "the one who was hunted."
